# 48 - Structure Fire

Units were hit out for an automatic fire alarm at the Sharpsburg
Towers. Assistant 265 arrived on scene and found a heavy smoke
condition on division 6, requesting the box filled. Crews had a good
working fire in apartment 607, however was placed under control in
about 10 minutes.

191 initially alerted for a smell of chemicals in the area of Mccarthy
park in Millvale. Upon arrival, it was found to have ill effects in some
of the residences, 191 Captain advising Dispatch to add an engine
company to assist with the investigation. 260 arrived on scene and
assisted with checking multiple buildings along North Avenue, and
with the ventilation of Tony's Bar.

# 54 - Smoke condition inside of a house

Units alerted for a smoke condition inside of a residence with no fire
seen. 260 Truck team 1 entered the structure to investigate and
found no fire inside the building. Apparently, a fire was started
outside of the residence, causing the smoke condition.

Units alerted for an attic fire at the residence. 260 Truck Team 1
entered the structure with 259 C-2 and an 1-3/4" line off of 191 Engine
and extinguished the fire, while team 2 set up ladder egress on the
exterior. 260 Truck team 1 remained on the interior to perform
overhaul. 191 Alerted the Allegheny County Fire Marshal. Fire is still
under investigation

Dispatch alerted units for a contractor that struck a 2" gas line in front
of the residence. 260 was running short staffed and requested 191
to assist at the scene. Equitable gas showed up on scene a short
time later and pinched the line. There was no gas that entered any
structure.

Etna Commons. Units were updated with info of a possible house
fire on Vine St. 149 assistant (Mertens) arrived on scene and stated it
was a brush fire behind an address on Vine St. All fire units were
held out on High St until fire was contained.

# 71 - House Fire *** PHOTOS ***

141 Clara St, Millvale

4.29.2009 - 1:00PM

County dispatched units to a working fire. 191 Engine layed in from a
hydrant, 260 Truck accessed close to the front of the house and was
put to work on the roof, opening 2 holes plus the skylight. 191 Engine
crew extinguished the fire on the 1st floor. Multiple units from 247,
191, 149 and 260 assisted with overhaul of the 1st floor, along with a
secondary search, which came up negative.

# 70 - Physical Rescue

Poplar St, Etna - below the Railroad Tracks

260 Alerted for a male that fell off of a railroad bridge into a creek bed,
approx. 25', complaining of back pain. 149 arrived on scene, set up a
ladder and started packaging. 260 arrived on scene and constructed
a 3:1 Rigging system to bring the patient to the top. Extrication was
complete in 17 minutes.

# 72 - Smoke in a house

214 2nd St, Aspinwall

260 RIT alerted shortly after returning from a house fire to handle a
call of smoke in a house in Aspinwall. Initial units arrived on scene
and reported that it was a possible problem with the boiler. 260 RIT
team staged on side "a" of the house, with no orders for a Mayday, we
returned shortly thereafter
